GRANDE PRAIRIE, A.B. — Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a call of a man hiding in the ceiling of a bar early Monday morning.

Just before 3 a.m., a local drinking establishment called RCMP on a man with a firearm in the building. He had been hiding in the bathroom ceiling, and an employee found him while they were closing for the night.

While staff called police, he came down from the ceiling with his firearm and fled the scene on foot.

Not many descriptors to help identify the suspect as known, but the RCMP says he did appear to be wearing white coveralls, similar to ones that would be worn while painting.

No one was injured during this incident.

Police believe it was the suspect’s intention to remain hidden until all staff had left for the night — as he would have then been free to commit a number of criminal offences after every one had gone home.
