LISTEN: Money Talks’ Michael Campbell on Alberta’s royalty review
VANCOUVER, B.C. — Alberta’s NDP government initiated a huge oil and gas industry sigh of relief at the end of last week with the release of its first royalty review.
It got high marks from both the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers — which called it ‘a balanced report’ resulting from a fair and credible process which Albertan’s can trust; and the Petroleum Services Association of Canada — which said it’s a framework which provides certainty to the industry and clearly sets the stage for a strong partnership with the government.
It was the subject yesterday of business analyst Michael Campbell’s weekday financial commentary on CKNW.
The 200 page report was the result of a five month review by a government appointed advisory panel — which included Beaverlodge Mayor, Leona Hansen.
