Two year-old safe after standoff in Charlie Lake
The Fort St. John RCMP have confirmed the standoff in Charlie Lake is over and the 2 year-old child is now safe.
The RCMP responded to a possible domestic disturbance at a residence on Rimrock Drive in Charlie Lake at 11:45 Sunday morning. Investigators along with assistance from the North District Emergency Response Team were deployed Sunday afternoon in order to secure the area.
A female victim reported that she was able to escape the residence but a 2 year-old child was still in the home.
RCMP members set up a containment area to ensure public safety and tried to speak with the individual inside the home with the child. Several homes in the area of the incident were evacuated as a precaution.
The investigation into this incident continues.
