Trackers split weekend games
The N.E. B.C. and Yukon Trackers were on the road for two games and came away with a split. The weekend started off well with a victory over the Leduc Roughnecks 4-1, but dropped a 6-2 decision to the Beaumont Braves.
In Saturday’s game against the Roughnecks the Trackers got out to an early lead with a goal just a minute and a half into the game. The teams wound up tied at one after the first period.
When play resumed in the second the Trackers were able to score twice to go up 3-1, and they added an empty netter with nine seconds left.
Goals were scored by Gary Loewen (2), and Geoffrey Dick (2).
Things did not go nearly as smoothly the next day against the Beaumont Braves. The Braves were up 1-0 after one and pulled firmly ahead in the second and third period as they managed to build a 5-0 lead and later added a sixth goal. The Trackers were able to score twice as the third progressed.
Scoring for the Trackers was Gary Loewen (2).
Next on the team’s schedule is a game on Friday in Fort St. John against the Grande Prairie Storm at 6:45 p.m.
