FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Local RCMP are searching for person who damaged an electronic road report sign with gun shots at Mile 80 of the Alaska Highway earlier this year.

Fort St. John RCMP received a report on Jan. 8 on the incident — which happened sometime between Dec. 31 and Jan 4.

Police say the sign has received about $6,000 worth of damage, and doesn’t work properly anymore as a result.

Now, RCMP has concerns not only over the unsafe use of a firearm near a Highway, but also that drivers can’t be updated with road conditions on the unpredictable highway.

Cpl. Dirk Finkenseip says RCMP don’t have any known suspects at this time, and are looking to the public to help identify the culprits responsible for this act.
