Over 80 skaters expected at B.C. Long Track Championships

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Over 80 speed skaters from the province including some from the Fort St. John Elks will be on the ice at the Pomeroy Sport Centre Saturday and Sunday to take part in the B.C. Long Track Championship. At stake is an opportunity to represent Team B.C. at the Canadian Age Class Long Track Championship in Quebec next month.

Thirteen clubs will be sending skaters to the event with the action starting Saturday morning at 9:15 with 100 metre races. Those on the ice will be competing in a number of distances including the 200, 500, 1,000, 1,500, and 3,000 metre. Relay races will also take place throughout. The last race on the schedule is slated to start at 2:50 p.m. on Sunday.
