Grande Prairie RCMP investigate attempted arson at fast food restaurant
GRANDE PRAIRIE, A.B. — Police are investigating a case of attempted arson that occurred yesterday at a Mary Brown’s Restaurant in Grande Prairie.
Luckily, the restaurant was closed at the time, and no one was injured.
On Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., Grande Prairie RCMP were alerted to a report of a blaze burning at the business, on the west side of the city. A witness reportedly observed a small fire outside of the building and put it out while alerting police and fire services.
Surveillance footage obtained later showed three suspects entering the store and pouring an accelerant throughout the restaurant. The tape then shows the suspects exit and light a fire at the rear exterior door.
Police believe their suspects in this case fled in a dark SUV that had been seen around at the time of the offence.
Anyone with more information on this case is urged to contact Grande Prairie RCMP.
