Huskies get past Vipers in overtime 3-2

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The two teams battling for fourth place in the NWJHL standings went down to the wire last night in Sexsmith. Tied in points heading into the game the Fort St. John Huskies and Sexsmith Vipers were on the ice looking to break that tie, and it was the Huskies coming out on top with a 3-2 overtime victory.

The bulk of the scoring in the game came within the first ten minutes of the contest. Fort St. John found the back of the net just over two minutes into the game but Sexsmith drew back even at the 3:56 mark. The Huskies took the lead for a second time on the power play with 11:38 left in the period.

Sexsmith again would tie the game, but in the second period to close out the scoring in regulation time.

Just 59 seconds into overtime Kody Disher took a feed from Lucian Serban and won the game for the Huskies. It was his second goal of the game.

The other Huskies goal was scored by Adam Bowie.

Shots in the game were 36-34 in favour of Sexsmith.

The next game for the Huskies is slated for Saturday at home against the County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings.
