FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — BC Hydro has issued another update on its ten year province-wide $24 billion system upgrade, which includes the $8.9 billion Site C project.

The WAC Bennet Dam and Gorden M. Shrum generating station west of Hudson’s Hope were built in the 1960’s but they remain the cornerstones of the system — and in commenting on the upgrade, Hydro spokesman Bob Gammer focused on projects at those facilities.

Without saying how much, Mr. Gammer also confirmed the turbine project was completed ‘well under’ its $272 million budget.

He also talked to us about the Bennett Dam spillway chute resurfacing project.

He said it will likely be sometime in April before it can be determined whether to proceed with that project, but he also confirmed Hydro does not expect the Site C construction will have any significant progress impact on the upgrade work at the other local area facilities.
