Bodies of Grande Prairie women found within kilometres of each other

GRANDE PRAIRIE, A.B. — RCMP has confirmed that the bodies of Amber Diebert and Jody Topilko were recovered by police within just a few kilometers of one another, in the rural northwest area of Grande Prairie.

On Dec. 11, Diebert’s body was found. Topilko was last seen on Nov. 29, shopping with a family member and was reported to police as missing just three days before.

Investigators are working to uncover more information in the case, but an arrest has been made. 28-year-old Mark Phillips is facing two charges of Second Degree Murder in relation to their deaths. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Dec. 21, at 9 a.m.

Following this update, Grande Prairie RCMP has said they will not be issuing any additional information about this case, as it is now before the courts.
