Dawson Creek man sentenced to 44 months in jail for sexual assault of young girls
WATSON LAKE – According to the Whitehorse Daily Star, a Dawson Creek man has been sentenced to 44 months in jail after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting four young girls in Watson Lake, Yukon. 56 year old Lyle Wayne Gilmore pleaded guilty to three charges of sexual interference in August and was sentenced last Thursday.
Overall he’ll serve 34 months in a federal jail as he was credited for serving ten months in remand.
The assaults took place over a two year span from January 1, 2013-December 31, 2014 to four girls between the ages of eight and 11.
In the cases Gilmore was known to relatives of the girls.
Watson Lake RCMP began an investigation of Gilmore back in April after territorial victim services staff made them aware of accusations made by a number of girls in the community.
