Skinned wolf carcass appears on highway near Tumbler Ridge

Posted to a local Facebook group, a graphic photo shows what appears to be a wolf carcass, skinned, headless, and propped up for drivers near Tumbler Ridge to see.

While the sight was rather gruesome to some, Sgt. Shawn Brinsky with the Conservation Office in Dawson Creek says there isn’t enough evidence to suggest much more than the offence of littering along side a highway has taken place.

He says there are no plans to investigate this incident, however, it is ambiguous if the same person who killed the animal also put it out on display.

“We don’t know who displayed that, we don’t know if it’s someone pulling a prank,” he said. “From my experience, the vast, vast majority of hunters and trappers are sensitive to public perception, and typically don’t do anything that outrageous.”

According to the 2014-16 BC Hunting Regulations, wolf hunting is in season right now.
