Duncan Cran gets more books than expected through Indigo’s ‘Adopt A School’

Vice-Principal of Duncan Cran Elementary School Christine Todd thought the gift of $1,900 and 30% off of books for her student’s library was enough of a gift on it’s own.

But when it was announced that the school would receive an additional $5,000 on “Giving Tuesday,” she was overwhelmed with emotion.

“Indigo was very generous,” Todd said. “I did not expect what happened yesterday to happen. That blew me out of the water.”

The Fort St. John Coles store invited Todd and other staff and students to come to the store for the big announcement; they also received 10 extra books, handpicked by staff.

This opportunity, says Todd, is a great chance to teach students the importance of giving — especially during the holidays.

Adopt A School is Indigo’s program that works to provide schools with more books by allowing stores to ‘adopt’ school.

Todd said Robert Ogilvie also received $2,000 worth of books through the program, as Adopt a School decided to donate books to other schools in the community and not just the one that was ‘adopted.’
