Hudson’s Hope resident Ricky Warren sets record in CFR novice saddle bronc event
Hudson’s Hope resident Ricky Warren was among those competing at the Canadian Finals Rodeo event in Edmonton earlier this month, and it was an event to remember. On the third day of competition Warren scored an 84 in the novice saddle bronc which established a record for the event at the competition.
Warren said he wasn’t aware initially that he had established a record, but he felt comfortable heading into his ride considering what others had said about the horse he was about to work with.
“I didn’t know what the previous record was. I was just happy to score 84. I didn’t know what the old record was. That horse was just really nice. I had saw him this summer at a couple of different rodeos and heard a couple of guys talking about him. He’s pretty fast but he’s pretty user friendly. It all came together,” he said.
He finished in third place overall in the standings at the conclusion of the saddle bronc.
