Spark! Women’s Leadership Conference makes donation to Women’s Resource Society
Spark! Women’s Leadership Conference presented a cheque for $1,500 to the Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society.
Conference Chair, Jennifer Moore, says it’s aimed to assist women in the community who are looking to re-enter the workforce, and be easier than travelling to a larger city centre like Vancouver or Calgary to attend a similar conference.
The 2015 conference, which happened in May, saw more than 220 women attend 2 days of sessions on professional and skill development.
The 2016 conference will be on May 18 & 19, at the Pomeroy Hotel. Keynote Speakers have yet to be confirmed, but the theme, ‘step boldly’, has been confirmed.
“It’s really important to us that every speaker gives all of our delegates a tool to put in our toolbox, ” said Moore. “We need tools to fill our toolbox, so we can charge out into the world.”
A donation has been made to the Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society’s ‘Dress for the Dress for Success’ program, in lieu of speaker gifts.
Last year’s donation was $2,500, and Moore said they decided this year to instead save that money and start a bursary.
