Courtesy of the speakers at the NEBC Resources Municipality Coalition, the North Peace Gymnastics Association has received a donation for $1,000 — following the fire that left them without a facility this past summer.

When asked when the possibility of a permanent facility will come up, Chantelle Yates of the North Peace Gymnastics Association said their contract with the Stonebridge hotel runs out in June 2016 and they are hoping to find the solution by them.

But in the 4 and a half month since the fire, Yates said there has been nothing but support from Fort St. John.

“The community has been fantastic,” she said. “It was nice to see not only our community behind us, but other communities.

The Coalition is made up of members from municipalities across this district, including Fort St. John, Taylor, and the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality.

This morning’s keynote speaker at the forum was Dr. Charles Jago, former president of UNBC, who spoke about how communities and BC can thrive from both the resource industry and social infrastructure.

This afternoon, the conference saw former Global BC Asia Bureau Chief, and now-Director of Communications for BC LNG Alliance, Jas Johal.

Johal spoke of the potential in LNG, and how he feels it’s important to get the right information out there regarding it.
