Man passes away after being struck by vehicle

A 55 year old male has passed away after being struck by a vehicle at 8 p.m. yesterday. The accident happened at 100 Avenue and 100 Street.

The male was transported to local hospital with serious head trauma where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. Investigation indicates the vehicle was proceeding through a green light traveling at a slow speed when the pedestrian stepped out in front to cross on a red light. He was wearing dark clothing at the time, and was not seen by the driver and was not able to stop.

Alcohol and speed are not considered to be a factor on the part of the driver, however evidence does suggest the pedestrian was impaired.
