This year’s zombie walk was held Saturday afternoon beginning at the hall entrance of the Royal Canadian Legion. The walk was the sixth time it has been held in Fort St. John, and the first time it was organized by the local Kin Club.

Zombie walk co-chair Jeannette Johnston said the annual event helps with the needs of the food bank.

“The zombie walk is an event to raise food for the shelves of the food bank. We are all about community. This is something that the Kin Club of Fort St. John can get behind and help out the community in another way,” she said.

The Kin Club decided to jump on board in spearheading this year’s walk after it was brought to their attention by one of its members.

“One of our Kin members, she saw the posts on the Zombie Walk Facebook page and she had asked our members if this is something that we would want to do. All of us jumped on board and said yes we can do this, lets make this happen.

150 pounds of food was brought in by the event which was donated to the women’s resource society. The society is said to be under an extreme shortage of food.
