A motorcyclist from the United States is being taken to Fort St. John hospital this afternoon after an accident at Mile 73 of the Alaska Highway.

Fort St. John RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says two motorcyclists from the U.S. were travelling along the highway around 12:15 p.m., and were pulling into The Shepherd’s Inn at Mile 73.

“They were turning into the Inn, and the second motorcycle ran into the first motorcycle. We’re not sure why,” said Shelkie.

One of the motorcyclists is on his way to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, said Shelkie. The other sustained only minor injuries.

The accident slowed traffic along the highway to a single lane, however, both lanes are now open.

Officers continue to investigate.
