Fort St. John Fire Department members were busy last night as they responded to a brush fire at Camarlo Park. 13 fire fighters arrived on the scene around 10:30 p.m. and the fire took about an hour to extinguish.

Fire Chief Fred Burrows said the fire was large in size, and given the location it was hard to get to.

“It was more into the middle of the park and had substantial size to it. What made it difficult was access into the park to get to it. We have a lighter unit that we can drive into places like the park, but we can’t take our heavy equipment in there.”

No injuries were sustained, and there is no indication at this point on a cause relating to the fire.
