Community invited to an update on Hudson’s Hope Site C mitigation negotiation

Hudson’s Hope Mayor Gwen Johansson, who for sometime has maintained the position that Site C should be referred back to the B.C. Utilities Commission, says details of Botterell’s proposals can not be discussed in full detail – referring that to the upcoming meeting.

“I can say in broad terms that mitigation is…for things that can be done to either avoid or to minimize impacts, or to compensate if impacts can not be properly mitigated,” says Mayor Johansson.

Johansson says this is an opportunity to find out what issues and concerns brought forth during Botterell’s prior meeting with the community in early 2014 have been heard by B.C. Hydro.

“We want them [the public] to come with a memory of things brought up at the original meeting and say, “What’s happened with that issue?” Mayor Johansson goes on to say. “And it’s possible they may have some new ones [issues] that have creeped since we were there.”

The community meeting with Botterell is being held at the Hudson’s Hope Community Hall on Wednesday May 13, 2015 – beginning at 7:00 p.m.
