Wanted suspect in Grande Prairie drug bust surrenders to police

Cpl. Roy Kennedy says Jama was released on a $20,000 bail with “a number of conditions” and has his next court appearance scheduled for March 25, 2015.

Abdikarim Farah, a 36-year-old Grande Prairie resident, is also being charged with one count of possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000 and one count of breach of recognizance in relation to the drug bust.

He too was released on bail with a number of conditions, and also has his next court appearance scheduled for March 25, 2015.

Four separate search warrants were executed on March 1, 2014 following a nine month investigation, according to Cpl. Kennedy. The search warrants included a residence on 92 Street and 96 Avenue, and another on 82 Avenue and 97 Street.

Police also searched two motor vehicles as part of the investigation.

The result of the search warrants turned up over $412,000 in cash, 915 grams of cocaine, 507 fentanyl pills, 10 ounces of crystal meth, 2 ounces of heroin, and “additional evidence related to the trafficking of drugs.”
