RCMP identify suspect they found dead after hunting for man who shot officers

ST.ALBERT, Alta. — The Mounties in Alberta have identified a suspect who was found dead following the shooting of two RCMP officers.

Police say that Shawn Maxwell Rehn, 34, was the person whose body they found in a home on Saturday, not far from the casino where the two officers were shot.

Const. David Matthew Wynn, 42, was last reported to be in grave condition, while Const. Derek Walter Bond, 49, was released from hospital Saturday evening.

Police say both officers were shot after entering the Apex Casino in St. Albert early Saturday to investigate a suspicious vehicle.

RCMP say Rehn was known to police.

They say an autopsy to determine how he died will be performed on Monday.
