Evacuated residents of Hudson’s Hope asked to check in with evacuation centre.

To check in, please call 250-787-8182. You can also visit the North Peace Arena on 96 avenue in Fort St. John. The evacuation centre will be open all night into Thursday.

Of the 700 residents who have checked in, most are staying with family and friends, and the rest in local campgrounds and hotels.

Residents were told to evacuate Wednesday afternoon after the Mt. McAllister fire grew to over 20,000 hectares in size. The fire still far away from the Hudson’s Hope townsite, but officials haven’t been able to fight the fire because of how aggressive it has been.
