RCMP also concluded from witness accounts that a second dog suffered serious enough injuries that it too did not likely survive after it escaped into a nearby wooded area.

54 year old Holden was originally charged with two counts of injuring or endangering animals, and two counts of causing animals unnecessary suffering. She originally plead not guilty to all four charges, but switched to a guilty plea on the lesser charge.

Initial police reports suggested she was likely intoxicated and angry following an argument with a partner, who had left the site before investigating officers arrived.
