Chair of the Northeast Oil and Gas Health Advisory Committee Don Irwin says he hopes by sharing her knowledge, Fort St. John residents will walk away with a better understanding of shale gas development.

“In B.C. we’re facing the same issues that they’ve seen in New Brunswick, and  what have they done? So we want to learn from their experience,” he says. “We feel the more people that are informed, they will ask our government [representatives] better questions and make better policies in B.C.”

Dr. Cleary’s 2012 report called for health impact assessments for every project, and asked the province to take a broader look at the overall health impacts of the industry.

The presentation and question and answer period will take place in the Callahan Room 1130, and is free and open to the public.
