Hydro has submitted its Environmental Impact Statement for the project to the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency and the British Columbia Environmental Assessment Office. The EIS includes the potential effects of the project, as well as proposed ways B.C. Hydro will work to avoid those effects.

If the government determines the EIS is satisfactory this spring/summer, it’s anticipated the joint review panel will be formed this summer. If that joint review panel decides the EIS is sufficient, public hearings will be scheduled for this fall/winter, with a provincial and federal government decision on the entire project tentatively set for the fall of 2014.

To register for the luncheon, contact the Chamber of Commerce at 250-785-6037.
