Meantime, the precipitation total of 4.6 millimeters came within a fraction of a millimeter, of the previous 18-day total of 4.8.

Thus the unofficial month-to-date totals of 9.7 centimeters and 9.4 millimeters are now both better than the comparable February totals last year.

However, with only about a third of the month left, they are also still less than 50 percent of the February norms.
