CLASS, an acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, encourages student-athletes to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leader within their communities.

The award focuses on four specific areas: community, classroom, character and competition.

She is one of ten finalists nominated for the award, which determines a winner through national public voting, as well as votes from the media and NCAA Division 1 head coaches.

Cranston, an outside hitter for the CSU Rams, says she couldn’t have been nominated without the support of the people around her.

“This is such an honour. I owe it all to those around me- my family, friends and teammates who push me every day to be great in every part of my life. I’m surrounded by constant support and people who love me and who want to see me do well. Getting this recognition reminds me how lucky I am to be at CSU, playing for the coaches I do, and with the teammates I have. I’m so thankful for these blessings.”

The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2012 NCAA Division 1 Women’s Volleyball Championship, taking place December 13-15 in Louisville, Kentucky.
