Trackers suffer weekend sweep at the hands of Edge Maroon
The two game weekend began Friday evening in Dawson Creek, where the Maroon struck first, scoring 1:44 into the first period. However, the Trackers evened the score at the 14:12 marker of the first, courtesy of a Trevor Whynot goal.
The two teams exchanged another goal each in the first, as the Edge scored their second of the period with 7:19 remaining, and the Trackers responded with just 1:34 left in the first, as Kody McManus scored on the power play, concluding the first with the score tied at 2-2.
The game was decided in the second period, when the Edge scored the final goal of the game with only 35 seconds remaining in the middle frame, concluding the scoring with the Edge leading 3-2.
Saturday in Fort St. John, despite a different scoring order, it was much of the same results for the Trackers. The Edge got off to a hot start Saturday at the Pomeroy Sport Centre, scoring three times in the first, creating a tough deficit for the Trackers to overcome.
Despite a second period goal from Kody McManus, followed by a third period marker from Mark Readman, the Trackers were unable to score a third and game-tying goal, resulting in another 3-2 loss, and a weekend sweep at the hands of the Edge.
Following the weekend, the Trackers now sit in a three way tie for fourth in the NWJHL’s North Black Division, with a record of 4-8-0.
The Trackers will have some time to put the weekend sweep in the past, as they hit the ice next on December 1 and 2, when they host the Peace River Royals and the Grande Prairie Sherpa Safety Storm respectively.
