E. coli case found in Grande Prairie

No further information about the affected patient have been provided. So far 10 cases of E. coli have been confirmed in the province, five of which are linked to that same Costco store.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency suspended the licence of the XL Foods Inc. processing plant in Brooks, Alberta last week as it investigates the cause of the contamination. At the same time, the CFIA continues to expand the recall of beef products from that plant. The products under warning include burgers, meatloaf and sliders under the Kirkland Signature and Safeway brands. In addition to Costco stores, products from Loblaws store are also affected by the recall.

Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz is holding a news conference this morning to address the massive recall.
