Dawson Creek resident gets her wish

18 year-old Hailey has a chromosomal translocation disorder which she was born with.  Given how rare her case was at the time, doctors had almost no idea what to expect and she was not expected to live past the age of two years. Hailey has definitely beaten the odds, but not without difficulty.

In 2008, Hailey endured difficult back surgery to relieve pressure on her lungs and heart, taking six months to recover when doctors had to insert a series of rods, hooks and screws to help straighten her spine. She also has an enlarged heart.

The trip was funded by a $6,000 donation from the South Peace Oilmen’s Association and Make-A-Wish.

While in Prince Edward Island, the family visited Anne of Green Gables home, saw Anne of Green Gables the musical and experienced the red sand of P.E.I.
