Access restricted around Eskal fire, southeast of Fort Nelson

Fire crews and personnel are on site assessing the situation, and if possible, may burn off fuels in some areas to reduce the risk of the fire crossing the Fort Nelson River.

For the time being, public access to the approximately 40,000 hectare area from Kilometre 0 on the Eskal Road to the Fort Nelson River, down the Fort Nelson River to the mouth of the Sikanni Chief River and west of the Fort Nelson River is limited. Industry personnel will have limited access, requiring authorization from officials.

This restiction is in effect immediately, and lasts until September 30, or until the order is lifted.
