The crash occurred on Highway 97 South, about three kilometres west of the junction with Highway 52 in Arras.
While the driver of the pickup was sent to Dawson Creek hospital with serious injuries, before being transported to Edmonton, the driver of the semi was unharmed.
The cause of the collision is currently under investigation, but so far driver inattention is believed to be a factor, while alcohol is not.
The highway was closed while the debris was cleaned up, and was opened for single-lane, alternating traffic by 7 a.m.
Dawson Creek RCMP say the names of those involved will not be released, by the request of family members.
