The owners of the residence were away from the home during the lunch hour, arriving back home to discover the home had been broken into.
Taken from the home were sentimental pieces of jewellery, along with $10,000 in Canadian and U.S. currency.
The stolen money is of various denominations, with all the bills being the older style of Canadian currency, not the newly produced bills.
The occurrence is currently under investigation and police are asking for assistance in identifying a suspect.
