Fort St. John riders clean house in Hudson's Hope
Shaw’s first placed finish in the 40 km course came at a time of 1:04:06.
The success continued for the Blizzard Bike Club, as George Gamble finished second overall with a time of 1:07:16, followed by fellow member Chris Haugan, who came in third at 1:07:47.
On the women’s side, Bike Club member Barb Polehoykie was the first place finisher with a time of 1:12:36.
Also on Sunday, members of Fort St. John’s cycling club raced with close to 1000 fellow participants in the Calgary Ironman 70.3 race, where Sandra McDonald completed a 2 km swim, 93 km bike ride, followed by a 21.1 km run, in 5:32:46.
McDonald’s time was enough to earn herself a fifth place finish in the female 40-44 age bracket, finishing with an overall place of 215.
Bob Andrews, another Blizzard Bike Club member, also raced in the challenging Ironman, finishing sixth in the men’s 55-59 age bracket, after completing the event with a time of 5:52:56.
This week, the club will be holding a meeting for members at 6:30 p.m. at the Cactus Trail campfire pit, which will be followed by a mountain bike race at 7 p.m.
