Peace Region athletic programs receive additional government funding

Dawson Creek Minor Hockey received $49,000, the Electric Eels received $12,900 and the Figure Skating Club was given $23,100.

Across the province, 281 recipients will share $9,853,697 as part of the most recent round of grants from provincial gaming revenue.

Peace River MLA Blair Lekstrom, says grants like these help maintain an active and healthy lifestyle within British Columbia.

"Sporting groups play a huge role throughout our communities and keep families active and healthy," he says. "These groups provide a tremendous service and are an important component to sport programs throughout the region."

Grant recipients in this round of funding offer programs in areas such as arts and culture, human and social services, as well as sports.
