Staff will be brought in from Prince George and Vancouver. Two staff will provide additional coverage in Tumbler Ridge and one staff person will provide additional coverage in Fort St. John and Dawson Creek.
The release goes on to mention they are currently reviewing the call on Friday June 8, that saw a woman wait almost an hour for an ambulance. The B.C. Ambulance Service says the closest ambulance was dispatched immediately from Chetwynd and was on scene within 51 minutes. They also say a local off-duty paramedic was on scene within 27 minutes, which is 2 minutes longer than the average ambulance response time in Hudson’s Hope. That paramedic took over care of the patient from the RCMP and local Fire Fighters.
Currently there are six people who have applied for jobs with the BCAS in Tumbler Ridge, Dawson Creek and Hudson’s Hope. The BCAS is now working with the applicants to finish the hiring process in the a timely manner.
