The week of April 28 to May 4 has been proclaimed "My Strength is Not for Hurting Month" by the City of Fort St. John, and the festivities will kick off on Friday the 27 with the march and a rally in Centennial Park. This will be the 6th year that the march has happened, spearheaded by North Peace Secondary School.

This year the campaign is branching out to other schools, and students from the ELC, Bert Bowes and Dr. Kearney will march from their respective schools along with the Fort St. John Women's Resource Centre, wearing "My Strength" t-shirts. Members of the public are invited to join and shirts are available by donation at the NPSS office.

Once at the park, Daniel Vecchio, a former NPSS principal who helped start the campaign, will speak, along with a representative from the FSJWRC. Vecchio will be speaking in classrooms and schools next week about violence against women.

Last year's "Stand By Your Women" march raised approximately $900 for the Women's Resource Centre. This year it will take place Friday, April 27, leaving from the NPSS gym at 1:30 p.m.
