Telus investing $480,000 in Fort St. John

It will go towards expanding and enhancing its wireless and wireline networks in Fort St. John, as well as bringing those services to nearby rural communities.

"Telus’ $480,000 investment will enhance our world-class wireless network and improve internet speeds for businesses and households right here in Fort St John," said Chris Jensen, Telus general manager of Customer Solutions Delivery for the community. "Telus is committed to making investments in infrastructure and technology to better serve our customers and communities. We are deeply grateful for the hard work and outstanding commitment of our 30 local team members and retirees and for the support of our customers."

$350 million will also be spent expanding access to high speed internet to 97 per cent of British Columbians. 50 First Nations communities like the Doig River 70 kilometres northeast of Fort St. John will also be connected to high speed internet, with a $23 million investment. 35 remote communities will also be connected to the broadband network.
