Wind energy project approved for Tumbler Ridge

Once completed, it will produce up to 49.6 megawatts of wind energy from 33 wind turbine generators, which can power up to 18,000 homes.

The project was subject to an environmental assessment by the province, including several First Nations participants, which found that it will not result in any adverse effects.A federal environmental assessment was not required.

Finavera was awarded an Electricity Purchasing Agreement by B.C. Hydro in March 2010. Under the agreement, the project is set to deliver electricity by November 2012. Before construction can start, Finavera must still obtain the necessary provincial licences, leases and other approvals.
