Spring cleaning Fort St. John's streets
Steam trucks are working to open up the storm lines, and clearing the catch basins to drain the water off the streets. Crews are working on clearing drainage on 86 Street and 96 Street today. Once the streets are drier, more pothole repairs can be done.
This winter saw more potholes than usual, due to the unusal changes in weather. "The winter played havoc," Demers says, "There are more this year; we've noticed that."
Next week the Rosco Patcher, a machine that spits out a mixture of hot tar and gravel that lasts longer, will be on the streets, and should be out for all of April. Demers had hoped to start sweeping the streets Sunday night, but with the weather forecast calling for snow, that may be postponed to start later in the week.
Residents can report locations of potholes by calling 3-1-1.
