Golf season quickly approaching the Peace Region
For those living a little closer to Fort St. John, Lone Wolf Golf and Country Club in Taylor may also be opening their driving range that same weekend.
Larry Ramstad, the golf pro at Lone Wolf, talked about when the course might open to the public.
"There is still no official timeline as to when the course will be open; a lot depends on the weather we'll be receiving in the next few weeks. Currently the course is still pretty frozen, but maintenance workers are working on the course, but there is still a lot of work to do."
The course is shooting to open the range this weekend, but that is not a guarantee.
Lone Wolf has also made some changes to their course, specifically hole #6, the second par 3 on the front nine. This season the course has added a water hazard to the left of the hole, a hazard which was originally intended for the hole. This year, the course received some sponsorship from local businesses, allowing for the lining of the pond, finally allowing it to be filled with water.
Ramstad says this new hazard will not only benefit the course by speeding up play, but can also act as another form of irrigation for the golf course.
If interested in hitting the driving range this weekend, call Lone Wolf at (250) 789-3711 to ensure that they are open.
