Peace Region teams begin day three of curling tournament
On Wednesday, Feb.15, the tournament's first draw had Fort St. John's Glen Godberson lose 7-3, while Dawson Creek’s Randy Maxwell also suffered a close loss by a score of 6-5.
In the men’s second draw, also played on Wednesday, Maxwell lost 8-3, while Godberson lost his second match of the day by a score of 10-6.
The women’s first draw saw Fort St. John’s Jodi Busche win her first match 9-7, while Dawson Creek’s Marlene Maxwell suffered a lopsided 10-2 loss. Their second draw also produced less-than-ideal results, with Maxwell losing 10-0 and Busche losing 12-6.
Day two of the tournament took place Thursday, Feb.16 with each team taking to the ice for another two draws. Fort St. John’s Godberson got his first win of the tournament, winning 5-3, while Maxwell lost 9-5.
In the men’s fourth draw of the tournament, Godberson lost 11-4, while Maxwell suffered another loss by a score of 8-2.
On the ladies side, draw three produced a 5-4 loss for Busche and a 12-2 loss for Maxwell, while in the fourth draw, Busche earned an 8-6 victory, while Maxwell won her first match in a close 8-7 win.
All four teams will play draws five and six Friday, February 17, with draw seven being played Saturday, followed by tournament playoffs, which wrap up Sunday. The tournament finals will be played Sunday afternoon.
