Governments sign Joint Agreement for environmental assessment

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The agreement outlines the process for conducting the review, specifies the joint review panel turns of reference and identifies the associated timelines regarding the key steps of the cooperative process.

After a 30 day public consultation period was held in October of 2011, comments received by the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency, as well as the B.C. Environmental Assessment Office were taken into consideration, which resulted in the finalized agreement.

The next step in the review process will include public consultations on the draft guidelines for the environmental impact statement (EIS), which will be held this spring.

Such guidelines will provide direction to the proponent and identify the information required in the EIS.
