New cab service getting started in Fort St. John

Now that his application is officially approved, Thompson will get to work on installing a meter and servicing his vehicle to make sure it is up to standards.

As for the name of the new company, Thompson, who applied to open another cab service to serve the people of Fort St. John, is leaving the name up to those very same people. He is extending an invitation to anyone who wants to name to company to send their ideas to his email, bjwt1972@hotmail.com, where he will pick the best name to be displayed on the side of his cab. Those interested are being asked to submit their idea, along with their contact information.

He is also looking for drivers and dispatchers as part of his new company. Anyone interested can submit their resume to the above email address.

Those interested in applying for the position must submit a resume, as well as show proof of a valid Class 4 Drivers License and their Chauffeur Permit, which can be acquired at City Hall for $35. A criminal background check is also required to get the permit.

Thompson shared his feelings on being approved by the Board, saying “I’m so grateful to the people and my main goal is providing a good, reliable service where I can be honest with the customers.”

Thompson stressed that honesty will be the main focus of his new business.

The process for a new cab service in the city has been a lengthy one, as Thompson and Fort St. John City Council first sent a letter to the Passenger Transportation Board back on Oct.11, 2011.
