New hiring procedure workshop offered at NLC

The free ITA workshop will focus on new methods of assessing potential employee’s credentials, in order to improve standards and attract more qualified and skilled workers into the workforce.

The Enhanced Assessment Approach for Challengers involves a mix of portfolio review, competency review, written exams and a practical demonstration of skills.

ITA’s free workshop is being offered in four locations around B.C., including Fort St. John’s Northern Lights College. The NLC will be hosting the workshop on Wednesday, Oct.26, with registration beginning at 6:30 p.m. The workshop is expected to run from 7 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.

The new procedure has been tested in the Cook and Heavy Equipment Technician trades, with the results now being shared to determine if the approach has a future in other provincial sectors.
