Senator Neufeld fuming over gas price difference

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Today, the lowest price for gas in Fort St. John is 133.9 at Safeway, while Dawson Creek is at 122.9.

Neufeld wants to know why there's such a big gap in price when trucks only have to drive another 80 kilometres further.

He believes the prices should be within two cents, if not on par with each other.

As someone who used to work with bulk fuels, Neufeld says he knows it doesn't cost an extra ten cents a litre to transport fuel between cities, saying it's "absolutely ridiculous".

He says he wants service station operators to show him their bill and tell the truth.

Since his request is always refused, Neufeld says it's time for people to start complaining.

"If nobody complains, guess what? The price stays there. I think we have to start complaining about it."

When he returns to Ottawa later this month, he plans to write letters to the oil companies and service station operators.
