The Fort St. John & District Chamber of Commerce is disappointed with the result of the HST referendum.

President Andrew Tylosky sees problems lying in the time leading up to the PST’s reinstatement.

"We’ve opened up a huge level of uncertainty; what is going to happen, how is it going to happen, what is the new PST system going to look like?"

The province estimates it will take 18 months to switch back.

It’s hard to tell what the immediate impact will be on businesses in Fort St. John.

Tylosky suggests we may see some slow down in capital spending because of the loss of the HST.

Despite its disappointment, the Chamber of Commerce plans to work with the government to develop an improved PST/GST model through public consultation.
