Employment Insurance rates drop in Fort St. John

Following eight straight months of declines, the number of people across the country receiving Employment Insurance benefits in June changed very little.

However, in this province, the numbers were down again, and topping the drop list of BC communities, at 32.4 percent, was Fort St. John.

Campbell River was close behind at 32.1 percent, with Dawson Creek 10th on the provincial list at 21.4.

Nationwide, the number of beneficiaries was slightly more than 577,000.

However, there were also notable declines in
Ontario and Quebec, while Newfoundland/Labrador recorded the only notable increase.

The numbers come from a Stats. Canada measurement, of those on EI benefits, from June 12th to 18th.
